Find the area of the triangle B = 104°, a = 11 cm, c = 18 cm

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

Area = (ac*sinC)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very good nin.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

did I interrupt what you were typing, @genius12 ? sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no lol thats what i was typing except with a small explanation =P

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

oh yah I was going into details to show the relationship of that area formula with 1/2(bh)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

but I have to study for my test tomorrow :P you can do that part for me medal in advanced!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll wait until OP requests for an explanation lol.. @nincompoop

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in order to take the sin of C i have to find C. how do i do that?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

my bad I meant sinB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B* is already given. it's 104°. The area of a generic triangle is given by the length of 2 sides and the angle between them multiplied by 1/2. Here we're given the sides 'a' and 'c' and the angle between them is B = 104°. So it's (1/2)(ac)sin(104°)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand now. thanks!
