Can you guys help me with these questions? I understand doing the problems and equations, but I don't understand these questions... 1. How do you use units and convert them to understand and solve problems? 2. How are units of measurement chosen and interpreted in formulas? 3. How do you choose and interpret scales on graphs and data displays? ... I need these asap. Please help and thank you!!!!!!

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Lll. I can't seem to understand, they are so confusing. I actually gtg, I'll see if I can help you with this like later. definitely today maybe.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Don't worry, I didn't forget about you it is that I am doing a session with my teahcer and lol, I have one of thos questions too that the teacher is asking me for an oral exam! I was like De ja vu.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaa! Its okay. This isn't due til tonight, but I like to get it done for I have extra free time!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what are units?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Units of measurement, like meters per second or miles per hour. Units like that.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, I have the answer for question 1. I answered it myself. I actually didn't know what units meanth either @amistre64 . Here is what I said to my teacher: "You can use units and convert them to understand and solve problems because there will be problems where they give you one thing with feet and the other with meters or vice versa, just to say an example. That is why it is also important to make sure to make them have the same unit."

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a unit, refers to "1" of something, a unit of measurement would represent "1" handspan, "1" stick length, "1" hopping distance, "1" second .... we can count the number of units of one element that it takes to complete a number of units of a different elements: 1 mile per 1 hour 1 meter per 1 second 1 heartbeat per 1 second etc

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it takes 3 feet to measure out 1 yard: the conversion factor we use is either 3 ft/yrd to convert yards to feet. Or, 1/3 yrds/ft to convert ft to yards

OpenStudy (amistre64):

units of measure are chosen to make the "computations" simpler to perform. for example: inches is not a good unit of measure to determine large distances ... like miles

OpenStudy (amistre64):

#3 i cant say i know a good response for :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 It's okay! Thank you for your help on the other 2 questions!(: You helped a lot!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, and good luck ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! @amistre64

for large distances of cellestial bodies bigger unitslike light years are used.
