Algebra help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need an opinion because I think it might be h(x)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yup ! h(x) = 6x+1 1 is the y-intercept. and thats the lowest y-intercept ! good job !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the opinion! :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey ganeshine, I'm sorry to bother you but I did an assignment for algebra and got the feedback. I'm having trouble with part of this assignment for she's asking for me to putt the information in point-slope form and I can't seem to get it. Mind helping?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Sure :) is it a word problem ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says, determine the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that will get your spacecraft from Point A to Point B. Point A is (0, -1 ) and point be is (-2, -2) for my answer from someone elses help I got \[y= - \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } x +1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But apparently she says this is not point-slope form

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

i agree wid her

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wat u have is y = mx+c form, its called slope-intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I don't get, because in problem four it says In question 2, you selected one of the two points (point a or point b) to be included in your point-slope equation, write the point-slope form of that equation again using the other points coordinates and she didn't mark that one wrong.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ohk, you just have gotten lucky that time it seems :) lets do this one again ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

It says, determine the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that will get your spacecraft from Point A to Point B. Point A is (0, -1 ) and point be is (-2, -2) for my answer from someone elses help I got

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

point-slope form we're looking for, lets pick point : A (0, -1) we need slope also, so lets find it

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Point A is (0, -1 ) and point B is (-2, -2) x1 y1 x2 y2 slope = y2-y1/x2-x1 = -2--1 / -2-0 = -2+1 / -2 = -1/-2 = 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the slope is 1/2

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes m = 1/2 point = (0, -1) x1 y1

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Now, the final step :- point slope form of a line : y-y1 = m(x-x1)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

y--1 = 1/2(x-0)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

gtg, cya...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you ! have a good day

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you too :D
