Is my answer correct? A transformation T : (x, y) ---> (x + 3, y + 1). The preimage of the point (4, 3) is ...... (7,4)?
If they were asking for the image of (4,3), then you'd be correct
Okay :)
You have to think backwards you have some point (x,y) and when you use this transformation, you'll land on (4,3) ie (x,y) ----> (4,3)
Makes sense.. :) Thank you. Just had to clarify I was right. Can you tell me if I am right on two more questions?
Here's a handy diagram to remember image and preimage |dw:1379017940047:dw|
sure
I wish I could save that drawing. Thank you. The image of the point (1, -2) after a rotation of 180° about the origin is ... (-2,1)? And The point (5, -2) is rotated 90° about the origin. Its image is ...(-5,2)?
wait. The image of point 1,-2) isint the answer going to be (-1,2)? @jim_thompson5910
just print screen the image to save it
and the 5,2 just (2,5)?
The image of the point (1, -2) after a rotation of 180° about the origin is ... (-2,1)? this is incorrect
The point (5, -2) is rotated 90° about the origin. Its image is ...(-5,2)? depends on if you're going clockwise or counterclockwise but the answer here is incorrect in either event
So my answers are (-1,2) and (2,5)?
much better
Thanks :)
