Need help solving. Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3x^2+9x+2=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So do you want to find the zeroes of the function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solving for X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well do you know how to factor? Because all you need to do is factor that equation.. set your two answeres equal to zero.. solve for them. and you get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I know that but no method of factoring I have tried is working for me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the only way to do it then is by using the quadratic formula.. http://www.purplemath.com/modules/quadform.htm you will get a weird answer but that is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I got 9+/-3sqr19/6 Which is wrong but I keep getting that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get\[x=\frac{ -9 \pm \sqrt{57}}{ 6 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mmm for some reason I was not getting the -9. Also I saw that they all could be divided by 3 so I thought it had to be simplified which is why I have a stranger answer.
