OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Standard dice Q1: What is the probablity of rolling a prime number on a single die? Q2: What is the probability that the product of the two number rolled on two dice is a prime numer?

hartnn (hartnn):

1/2 for 1st ?

hartnn (hartnn):

2,3,5 only, right ?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yes

OpenStudy (jt950):

3/6 = 1/2 chance for question one

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yes

hartnn (hartnn):

i could find 3 favourable events for 2nd one 1 with 2,3,5

OpenStudy (jt950):

3 is the chance of get prime number, 6 is total of number of a dice

hartnn (hartnn):

1,2 and 2,1 is counted as different, right ? if yes, then 6

OpenStudy (psymon):

Im assuming you could count the reverse order, too. If 1 and 3 works then 3 and 1 does, too.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yes

hartnn (hartnn):

so, 1/6 for 2nd ?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yeah, too easy eh

hartnn (hartnn):

actually! ;)

OpenStudy (psymon):

Kinda sorta D: I still dont like probablity, though ._.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Q3: What is the probability that the sum of the three numbers rolled on three dice is a prime numer?

OpenStudy (jt950):

@UnkleRhaukus Your question is somthing like question 1 as for first dice is 0.5, second is the same or the third instead, so the probability is (0.5)^3?

hartnn (hartnn):

to many possibilities.... 1 for 3, 6 ways to get 5, 1 way to get 17.... and i am feeling kinda bored to calculate for 7,11,and 13
