I need help solving this problem. It tells me that I cant use a decimal. But for my answer I got a decimal. -9 + 2 ( 4g - 7 ) = 9.

OpenStudy (jack1):

18 = 2 (4g - 7) 9 = 4g - 7 16 = 4g g = ...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i also get a decimal, i tried to prove g=4 as per @jack1 but LHS does not = RHS

OpenStudy (jack1):

...? why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi @jack1 isn't g = 4 ?

OpenStudy (jack1):

yep, but why doesnt ur LHS = RHS?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i look at the original question shouldn't LHS = 9?

OpenStudy (jack1):

yeah...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-9+2\left( 4\left( 4 \right) - 7 \right) = 9\] \[-9 + 2\left( 16-7 \right)=9\] \[-9 + 2 (9) = 9\] \[-9 + 18 = 9\] \[9 = 9\] MY BAD!!! YOUR RIGHT @JACK1

OpenStudy (jack1):
