simplify a+b-(2a+2b)+(4b-a) by removing parentheses and switching the signs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i did a+b+(-2a-2b)+(4b-a) changed the signs where there was negative in front of parentheses then a cancels out, so I'm left with -b+4b end up with 3b is this right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a + b - (2a + 2b) + 4b - a a + b - 2a - 2b + 4b - a combine like terms : a - a - 2a = -2a b - 2b + 4b = 3b so you are left with : -2a + 3b

ohh right, 2a ok thanks
