divide 4x^6/4x^2

OpenStudy (strawberry17):

you can cancel out the 4 from the numerator and denominator. And then the thing with the exponents is that when you are dividing, you will be subtracting the exponents. So in this case, you will subtract 2 from 6 and then keep that number in the numerator.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

\[\frac{4x^6}{4x^2}=\frac{4}{4}*\frac{x^6}{x^2}=1*x^{6-2}=x^4\]

thanks
