In this poem, what is an explanation I could write on how the events of the 20th century have influenced this poem?
Umm.... what poem?
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
It's called stopping by the woods on a snowy evening by robert frost.
I just need like a couple of sentences please?!
Hmmm... not sure. I do not know of anything specific. Here it is read by Frost himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfOxdZfo0gs No real special emphasis put on anything.
Frost also stated that many times in interviews. He claimed never to put any meaning other than the obvious and primary meaning of the words into his poems. Some quotes from him on that here: http://stageandcanvas.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/calling-on-frost/ But people assumed that he meant things like a person in hard, dark, cold part of their life might pause for a strange but peaceful moment and contemplate death. Frost denied this completely with words like, "Don't press the poem too much."
