need some help with innatebehavior and learned behavior
Definitions or what is the question?
INNATE is a trait or characteristic that comes from birth LEARNED is a trait or characteristic that is taught or imitated.
dwagon is right. An example of innate behavior are all the reflexes of the body and escape behavior. Learned behavior is anything taught during life that is not present at birth- including imprinting behavior (i.e. ducklings see the first thing that moves as their mother) to far more complex behavior such as communication.
thanks so much so what would u say for and against innate and learned behaviour
like pros and cons? Well innate is definitely more critical for lower organisms (i.e. a bacteria hits a wall --> it goes the other direction) and is much more rigid in its behavioral outcome. This is necessary if you want to have consistent and predictable behavior (such as escape) at birth. However if we speak to flexibility and adaptation, these are the properties of learned behavior.
There is no clear distinction whether one is better then the other, but they are both necessary for our human survival!
yes thats right mate. thank u so much for your help. sorry to ask
Innate came first though :)
its my pleasure!
counter example: we shouldn't 'learn' to have a gag reflex, its there at birth and stays there for good reason!
thank u again. if i need help again can i get in touch by this page.
Also we shouldn't be born with the ability to create music: it is some that that is learned through experience
