My daughter Morgan needs help in Geometry anyone willing to help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just pose the question , we're here to help , that is the sole purpose

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post the ques

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please hold

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it Eoin Morgan ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post a problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XYZ and XYW are complementary angles. mXYZ = 3x + 9 and mXYW = 5x + 9. What are mXYZ and mXYW ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next to XYZ is this little < thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the angles are complementary , they sum up to 90 degrees , so , 3x + 9 + 5x + 9 = 90 8x + 18 = 90 8x = 90 - 18 8x = 72 x = 72/8 = 9 put the value of x back in the given equations and u get the respective angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello my name is Morgan! :D Okay can we back up here just a little bit please?? How do i put the x back in the given equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x + 9 = 3*9 + 9 = 27 + 9 = 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, im all confused... im sorry!! im just a little bit slow.. :( stupid autism.... im rlly sorry,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay , tell me what u didn't understand :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how you got 3x+9-3*9+8=27+9=36....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

substitute x with the value we got , remember x = 9 ? , I just put that back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay i got it now!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay whats next step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothing , those are the angles , do the same for 5x + 9 to get the other angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+9 = 5*9 + 9 = 54 + 9 =63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm , 5*9 is 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my bad im sorry i read it wrong!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but , ya , that's the idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+9 = 5*9 + 9 = 45 + 9 = 54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U GOT IT :D :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so the answers is 36 & 54 correct joel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep , absolutely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Woohoo! that is soo much easier than the teacher made it! okay there is 2 more could we go over if you dont mind? i just wnat to 1000000% understand this :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U Betcha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ABC and DEF are supplementary angles. The measure of DEF is twenty degrees less than three times the measure of ABC. What are mABC and mDEF?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay , now supplementary means that the angles sum upto 180 degrees let angle ABC = x So , angle DEF = 3x - 20 , got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm , just a question , r u the daughter who needs help or the mother ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anywys , ABC + DEF = 180 So , x + 3x - 20 = 180 Try to solve it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I said awhile ago hi this is morgan haha, im the daughter!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKAY , :D , good to know :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im sorry for asking so many questions but how do you solve it?? can ya point me in right way how to do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya , u got the "sum upto 180" part , ryte ? Now we don't know the angles , but we have a relation between them , So , let ABC = x then , according to the Q , DEF is 20 less than 3 times ABC ; that is DEF = 3x - 20 , now u have bith the angles , just ADD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i add 3x + 20 together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No , ABC + DEf = 180 x + 3x - 20 = 180 4x - 20 = 180 4x = 180 + 20 4x = 200 x = 200/4 = 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay it makes sense now!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D ,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it , sis ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U make this sooo much easier thank you so much there is one more,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BRING IT
