A membership to Movie Night Movie Club costs $10, plus $2 per movie. Y = 2x +10. Explain how to graph the equation using the y-intercept and slope. Be sure to tell where you place the first point and how to find the location of the second point.

Do you remember y=mx+b? b is the y intercept...so you take your 10 and make a dot at (0, 10)... then you have to remember that m is your slope... remember slope is the change in y over the change in x... so you m is can basically be written as 2 over 1 or 2/1... so from the point you made at (0, 10), simply go up two points, and over to the right 1, so up 2, right 1, up 2 right 1...then connect your dot and walla, you have graphed your equation for movie night! :o)

hope this make sense

OpenStudy (yttrium):

We know that y-intercept and slope form is written in the form y = mx+b, where m is the slope an b is the y-intercept Therefore, you can automatically conclude that you have a point (0,10) Considering the slope m = 2, you can plot the next points starting from (0,10) by moving 2 units upward and 1 unit to the right or 2 units downward and 1 unit to the left. Therefore, the next points can be (1,12) or (-1, 8)
