The "coefficient of friction" is just a convenient mathematical way to describe what? How slippery a surface is The direction that the force of friction pulls in The normal force How efficient the force of friction will be

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

Coefficient of friction is used to calculate friction. It's a dimensionless constant ,So it can;t describe the direction. so the second choice is wrong The normal force is the reaction to the weight of an object and it doesn't affect the object to cause a motion if the object is kept on a horizontal floor. So it also have nothing to do with friction. So the third choice is also wrong hence Coefficient of friction is used to calculate friction it can't be used to calculate how efficient the friction force is. To measure efficiency of a force there r lot of other factors to be concider. So the 4th choice is also wrong higher Coefficient of friction is higher the value of friction will be and vice and versa. So Coefficient of friction gives us a rough idea about how slippery is the surface. So the choice is 1st one

ohhh i get it now, thank you for clearing that out

:-) *thumbs up*
