Solve the equation for the specified variable: V= Y(a+B), for a. a=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=-B+V/Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't I divide both sides by Y?

hartnn (hartnn):

you do! what would u get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

V/Y-b=a

hartnn (hartnn):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Steps: since a is on the right hand side of the equation, switch it to left, didve eachterm by Y, simplfiy equation, since B does not contian variables to solve move it to right hand side, by subtracting b from both sides, and u will get my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, it was incorrect (mine was).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trust me next time :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, but your's was also incorrect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:O, then post the whole equation so we know what type of method they want us to use to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKay, it was V-YB/Y. But, I don't understand how it's that answer.

hartnn (hartnn):

oh they simplified a bit -B+V/Y = -BY/Y+V/Y= (-BY+V)/Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah okay that makes sense :) thanks!
