Solve the inequality: (x - 1)(x - 4) < 0

You can see that for x=1 and for x=4, the equation is 0. So, it should be interesting to probe what sign takes the equation for, \[x<1\Rightarrow -\cdot -=+\] \[4>x>1\Rightarrow +\cdot -=-\] \[x>4\Rightarrow +\cdot +=+\] So it seems that the only interval that satisfies the inequality is (1,4), and this is the solution.

i dont get it A. x < 1 or x > 4 B. x < -4 or x > -1 C. 1 < x < 4 D. -4 < x < -1

OpenStudy (john_es):

The C option is equivalent to (1,4). ;)

ohhh ok thank you :)
