What are some reasons why we shouldn't have dropped the atomic bomb?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pollution for one.. Then Japan pretty much hates U.S from it, some others too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Japan loves America

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are submissive to us, I've talked to Japanese people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol you sure? They like us.. but the government doesn't really.. If we got into a war with China, Japan would come right in with china

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, Japan is our ally, and the government doesn't hate us. Japan has no military, we protect Japan. Our u.s base is in okinawa Japan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh.. well china doesnt like us.. but one bad reason was because of major pollution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks Sisco0123

OpenStudy (anonymous):

some areas are still are unable to go into

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Samsterz.. Ground Zero is unable to go into because of pollution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WAIT RADIATION*!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

China is a major polluter, America isn't. Chinese population is so bad that there is conflict between Japan and China, because the winds blow chiense pollution to Japan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ment radiation sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Japan ahtes China, and Korea, they are fighting over islands today, their governments argue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.. this is about the nuke, so the reason why it was bad is because of radiation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kourtney it would be smart of you to listen to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sam is right about all the other stuff Kourtney, but Radiation is what was one of the worst things.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some reasons we shouldn't have dropped nuclear bomb: Lost of thousands of lives

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe thats it lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

radiation wasn't as bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The loss of lives and lives were lost because of radiation too.. Ground zero is still highly radiated...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tht was one of the 1st nuclear bombs, it was very small, and the area was radiation free after some years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its not loool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look it up sam :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i got proof

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thts a blog lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still it's proof...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heres a good website: http://www.rerf.jp/general/qa_e/qa12.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its from japan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

called radiaiton effect research foundation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not talking about all of Hiroshima.... I'm just talking about the dead point of were it hit.. people have gotten luekemia from living in the area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is a fun game to learn about nuclear bombs, thts how i kinda learn, u can bomb ur own place where u live :D http://www.nucleardarkness.org/nuclear/nuclearexplosionsimulator/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not anymore, maybe in the 50's but not now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

winds blow constantly across tht region, if u were right then the wind could blow all the radiaiton to diff areas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

play the game lol its fun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the biggest nuclear bomb in the world is so tiny, it can only reach like 50miles of land

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats What I Put Mostly For My Report-About People Dying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought nuclear bombs could bomb like whole countries

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lololol sad the biggest bomb nuclear can only reach 50miles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To answer the original question, fallout is a big reason why using a nuke is a bad thing. Conventional bombs explode and are done with. Nukes leave radiation behind for years, but the fallout is the worst part since it can blow all over the place in the rain, air, and soil. Thousands died in the initial blast, but a few thousand more died from the radiation sickness that followed -- cancers, sterilization, burns, etc.. At the time, no one really knew what the effects would be. Keep in mind that this was new stuff. At one point, the US military tested nukes and marched soldiers through ground zero to see what the effects might be. Look up Chernobyl and the effects that disaster had on Eastern Europe and the potential rise in cancer cases because of one reactor meltdown in the region. It's also why the idea of a "dirty bomb" is a very dangerous one. It doesn't have to blow up a building, but it can spread radioactive material everywhere and create health hazards for anyone exposed just for being near it. Unlike a cold or fever that you can recover from, radiation sickness can leave behind serious side effects that may never go away. Also, Japanese people aren't submissive. Politeness /= submissiveness. Keep in mind that Japan's military tradition is a few thousand years old and that the home islands had never been successfully invaded or occupied by foreign forces until WW2 when the US arrived. Japan also has its own military, but its not defined in the same way as it is in the US because of the treaty at the end of WW2 and their constitution. Instead, it's called the Japanese Self-Defense Force whose only purpose is to safeguard Japan. Even though it's small, it has a lot of advanced hardware.
