Why is mathematics not always equal?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cuz, with oly 'equal' you cant do everything. sometimes you will be having info on 'inequalities' like age \(\le\) 15, or \(\ge\) 20 something... which u need to be able to interpret and make sense of

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I'm not sure if i answered ur q... is that wat u looking for ? :)

You mean an equation. In mathematics, there exists a language, an equation is not really a bunch of numbers added randomly. Let's take an example with a physics formula: \[K=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }m.v ^{2}\] That's the equation that allows me to know the kinetic energy a body posses. The formula is telling me that it's directly proportional to the halfed mass and the velocity squared. When we say something like: \[x ^{3}+3x>9\] we are saying that that equation, in a certain range of values, is greater than 9.

You mean an equation. In mathematics, there exists a language, an equation is not really a bunch of numbers added randomly. Let's take an example with a physics formula: K=12m.v2 That's the equation that allows me to know the kinetic energy a body posses. The formula is telling me that it's directly proportional to the halved* mass and the velocity squared. When we say something like: x3+3x>9 we are saying that that equation, in a certain range of values, is greater than 9.
