A scientist records a temperature of 234.566°C in an experiment. The temperature then falls 48.01°C. What was the temperature after it fell? Give your answer with the appropriate precision. A. 186.556°C B. 186.56°C C. 186.557°C D. 186.57°C

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

transform them to fractions, then take the difference and rewrite the fraction in decimals.

can u help me

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Suppose I have 100 fruits, and 25 falls from my hand. How many will remain with me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

75 fruits

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@kathy0514 A scientist records a temperature of 234.566°C in an experiment. The temperature then falls 48.01°C. now do the same here.

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

forget about the fractions, just do this: we know that to find the difference of anything we substract the initial value from the final value. so applying that to the problem, we can form an ecuation: \[T _{f}-T _{o}=dT\] it'll look like this: \[T _{f}-234.566=48.01\] so, all you have to do is solve that ~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

186.556

OpenStudy (ash2326):

good kathy :P

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

whoops, spinf that hehe...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be A

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

yes x3.

OpenStudy (ash2326):

yes, good :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u @ash2326 U were the best and still r! C:

OpenStudy (ash2326):

thanks :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me on a other

Patrice buys 15.70 gallons of gas for $2.799 per gallon. How much does Patrice pay for gas? Give your answer with the appropriate precision. A. $43.90 B. $43.94 C. $43.95 D. $44.00

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Same ideology as the fruits. If you have 6 cages with 5 fruits in them. how many fruits would you end up with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to do the same thing that u told me but I got 4.369

OpenStudy (anonymous):

43.69

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ash2326

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

All you have to do is multiply: what is: \[15.70\times2.799= ?\]

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

if you aprox the value, then you'll be having what in science is called "error range"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

43.9443

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ash2326

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Good, now take the significant values, we only need 2 decimals. meaning that we'll only consider the 43.94.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its b

A rancher has 120 m of fence to enclose a pen with sides of length 27.3 m, 22.4 m, 32.6 m, and 31.7 m. How much fencing will be left over after he encloses the pen? A. 6 m B. 6.1 m C. 6.9 m D. 10 m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last 1

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

okay, first we have to add up the sides. \[27.3+22.4+32.6+31.7\] how much is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

114

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats how much it =

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

very good! Now, to 150 substract that quantity.

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Sorry, 120-114=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Good!, so the right answer is A :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanx
