To take the conjugate of two things that are being added or subtracted, follow this simple rule: If you are adding them, subtract them instead. If you are subtracting them, add them instead. For example the conjugate of -5 + 7i is -5 - 7i For example the conjugate of 4 - 2i is 4 + 2i

@BangkokGarrett Can you answer them please with an explanation so i understand them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry, but I don't think I can be any more clear. What part of my explanation confuses you specifically?

Hint on #1: sqrt(-100) = sqrt((-1)x(100)) = sqrt(100) x sqrt(-1) = ??? one more step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. youre ok on the last 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is one -10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its 10 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...look at my last step there....sqrt(100) x sqrt(-1) sqrt(100) = 10, right? sqrt(-1) = i, right? So, sqrt(100) x sqrt(-1) = _______

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10i?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. you always want to factor out a -1 if you can and then write sqrt(-1) as i.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay for 2 i dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@BangkokGarrett you there
