I'm writing a paper using Ursula Huws "Fixed and Footloose: Work and Identity in the Twenty-First Century", what exactly is a fixed job, footloose job, and a fractured job

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, they are not specific things in industry. But, I can help with the general terms. Fixed as in stationary position. Not that you don't move, but that the job does not change. Footloose and fancy free is an old expression. It meant a person that could roam from town to town with little care. This might be a person that changes jobs a lot or that has a job that takes them all over. Only the book could tell you. Fractured, well, like what happens to a bone when a car runs over you. Something about this is broken. The exact use will be in the book, but that should give you a place to start.

Thank you, that does help
