Please help.

Use function notation to write the equation of the line. algebra unit 1 lesson 4 assessment question 1 A. f (x) = 2x – 1 B. f (x) = –½x – 1 C. f (x) = –2x + 1 D. f (x) = –2x – 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is the picture of the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you can rule out option C because the y intercept is at -1 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to find slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya but there are no points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes there are! There arent any points that have been made but the line does intersect the graph on certain points! :) look closely. like at (1, -3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is also a point at (0,-1) so try and go from (1,-3) to (0,-1). what is the slope that you got?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea but how about (1,1) and (-2,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not (1,1) but (-1,1) is a point! and yes (-2,3) is a point too. you can choose any 2 points to find the slope! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if I choose any points, will I get the same answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup! Test it out. what is the slope between (-1,1) and (-2,3)? Then see what the slope is between (1,-3) and (0,-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thanx alot!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean you cant skip a point, but if you just go from one point to the nearest point you will always get the same slope! Yeah no problem :) the answer should be B :)

BTW i love Rick riordan's books!! i have read the percy series and the kane chronicles and everything! :)
