A vehicle moves in a straight line with an acceleration of 5 km/h2. By how much does the speed change each second? Answer in units of km/h

OpenStudy (plainntall):

You sure about the question because the units don't make sense.

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Acceleration is the change in speed over time. In this case the time unit is per hour.

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Every hour the speed increases 5 km/h. If you want to know what the change is per second you need to know how many hours are in a second.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya that's how the question is I guess you have to convert it but that's why it is so hard. And there is 3600 secs in an hour

OpenStudy (plainntall):

okay so that means there are 1/3600 hours in a second right?

OpenStudy (plainntall):

so just divide 5km/h by 3600 to get the change in speed per second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.00138889 is a small number

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Right and it should be. If the speed only changes 5km/hr per hour then it will only change .083 km/hr per minute which is even smaller by the second which is your number.

OpenStudy (plainntall):

There are cars that can accelerate to 120 km/h in 3 seconds. So that acceleration is extremely small.

Wow thank you :)
