Farmers had no way to keep cattle and sheep from trampling their fields. C. The land was too expensive for most homesteaders to afford. D. @TakeA.I.M.
Barbed wire was invented to keep cattle together in 1870, so B is not the answer. Land in the west was cheap, so C is not the answer. I seem to remember in AP US that we talked about the Dust Bowl being in the late 1800s and population INCREASED after the Civil War so I would go with A
b) is the answer
But wouldn't farmers put up barbed wire? @jennalu97
because the use of barbed wire where it boarders residential land is not legal.
