PLease help me I need to get this done soon!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Consider two lines that form a linear system. Line 1: slope = 4 and y-intercept of (0,-3) Line 2: slope = 4 and y-intercept of (0,8) Part 1: What type of lines would this be? Part 2: How many solutions does this system have?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Notice that the slopes are the same. what does that tell you about the lines?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot to add this one part in to the question, ive already done the two that i had just posted but this is the last one and its hard to understand could you please help me with it? here it is: Are the x and y intercepts the same or different?

@DebbieG

OpenStudy (debbieg):

You are given the y-intercepts in the problem. Are they the same?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

As for x-intercepts, what kind of lines are these? Do they share a common point? For the lines to have the same x-intercepts, they would have to share that point. So what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the lines are parallel so they dont have an intercept correct?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Right, they don't share ANY common points. So they certainly don't share their y-intercepts, or their x-intercepts.

Okay, thank you very much
