If a motorist pays $19.62 for 15 gallons of gasoline, how much does she have to pay for 20 gallons at the same rate? @Mathis1 @UditKulka

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So we have $19.62 for a total of 15 gallons. We need to first find the price per gallon in order to find the price for 20 gallons. We can find the price per gallon by divining the total price for 15 gallons, by 15. so we have:\[\frac{ $19.62 }{ 15 gallons } = \frac{ price }{ 1 gallon }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once we have the price per gallon, we just times it by how many gallons we want to buy, in this case 20.
