Write a "C" on the line if the sentence is correct. Write an "X" on the line if there is an error in the noun adjective. 1. ____ I need to have my car's license renewed. 2. ____ During the power shortage, the streets light went out. etc....
@JuanitaM
car's is not correct
im assuming they are using that as a noun adjective to license
streets is not correct either - same logic as noun adjective
Can you explain to me the main concept of a noun adjective?
it describes a noun or subject so in the first sentence, license is noun and car's describe what kind of license
they say noun adjective because they need you to find the noun and then see which word is describing the noun...
Can you help me with a few more? I won't cheat by like first tells my answer to you and then you can check and explain.
ok
____ He wanted to take an economic class. (E) _____ Many people are worried about the current world's situation.(E)
ok what is your answer
For the first one I said that it was a error and also For the second sentence also.
what is your noun in the first? the adjective?
It's usually going to be written on the end of the sentence?
im not following what you mean
_____ Many people are worried about the current world's situation.(E) (E) means the error.
i disagree with your answer for the first once - whiich is why I asked you for the noun and adjective
Ok. I think for the first one "class" is the noun and "economics" is the adjective.
that is correct. so why do you think the adjective is incorrect?
I think that "economic" is incorrect because "economic" should be a type of possessive noun, since it is a class and it is being specific with the class.. Economic simply doesn't fit in there.
Well not exactly with an apostrophe though.
he wanted to take an economic class. That is a perfect sentence. economic tells you which type of class he wants to take
And for the second one, I would say that "lights" is the noun and the "streets" is the adjective because lights is in general wise while "streets" is being more specific about it.
What do you think?
i don't have that for the 2nd sentence. You sent Many people are worried about the current world's situation.(E) I agree that is an error
I couldn't catch what you meant by "i don't have that for the 2nd sentence".
sorry - I see you went all the way to your initial post.
???
actually that should be "street" light don't you agree?
Yes
How about this? "Many people are worried about the current world's situation."
Is it correct or is there an error?
I think it is wrong because should be "current world situation"
Can you explain why?
world's...doesn't make sense - i do not think that is a correct word in this sentence, situation is noun and world's is the noun adjective.
Just need help with a few more. Thanks for spending some time answering my questions :)
np
"The students did not like the dormitory's rules." (E) "The television's repairman picked up my television set this morning." (E) "I need to buy a plane's ticket." (E) ""He is taking an advanced physic course this semester." (E) 'John bought some leather gloves yesterday." (C)
4th one is correct...again physic describes course all others are correct as you posted
Since physic describes course, does that like mean that every adjective in a sentence will have the error (that they want us to find)?
no not really...i see they are really using the apostrophe s that is wrong in most of the cases. that should be used when showing possession...not as an adjective
Can you please give me an example (or two) :-)
"I need to buy a plane's ticket." (E) see that plane's is the adjective ticket is the noun this is incorrect because that should be planes (with no apostrophe) possession is Jane's book....that is correct a plane can not possess a ticket...but jane can possess the book
So ur saying that the plane doesnt own the ticket but jane can own the book.
YES...
"Many people are worried about the current world's situation." so for this is the situation adjective and the world is the noun?
So ur saying that the plane doesnt own the ticket but jane can own the book.
situation is the noun world's is adjective adjectives precede nouns
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!! :)
You are welcome.
