Solve for B. A = 3(B + C) B = (A - C)/3 B = (3A - C)/3 B = (A - 3C)/3

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Know your order of operation rules? In solve for you basically work them backwards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

PEMDAS Parenthesis Exponents Multiplication/Division (Left to right) Addition/Subtraction (Left to right)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Now, there are two ways this one could result in a valid answer. First, divide off the 3, then do whatever else is needed. Second, distribute the 3 to B and C, then do whatever else is needed. They chose the second. So distribute the 3 and then solve and see if you get one of the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you just tell me the answer?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Then what would you learn? I'm not interested in doing your work for you. I have my own work to do. But I am glad to help you learn.
