help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x(x−3)=(x+2)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solving for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, im quite sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well first you FOIL it

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

7x+4=0 x=-4/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

brah chill

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

the answer as I said -4/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but here is for learning though not straight up get the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SolomonZelman can you explain how you got 7x+4=0??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ineedhelpnow08 so how do i FOIL it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x(x−3)=(x+2)^2 \rightarrow x^2-3x=x^2+4x+4\] For x(x−3) you basically do (x-3)multiply x for (x+2)^2 you do (x+2) x (x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you bring everything to one side add 3x and subtract x^2 \[x^2-3x=x^2+4x+4\] then you should get \[7x+4=0\] next subtract 4 to 0 to get 7x=(-4) then you divide by 7 to get \[x =-\frac{ 4 }{ 7 }\]
