Common denominator help please? My two fractions are 1/x^2+8x+15 (which factored is 1/(x+5)*(x+3)) 2/x^2+11x+30 (which factored is 2/(x+5)*(x+6)) I need to add two fractions but cant figure out what to multiply each by in order to get a common denominator!!!
You just combine like terms, x^2+8x+15 + (x^2+11x+30) =
2x^2 + 19x + 45. If this is not what you were asking about please explain your question better, it may confuse some .
Common denominator... My 2 fractions are 1/x^2+8x+15 and 2/x^2+11x+30. In order to add fractions, they have to have the same denominator. Simply, to add 1/8 and 1/16 you'd multiply the first by 2/2 in order to get 2/16+1/16. I have to find the common denominator for the two mentioned above.
Please edit your question and put the 1/ , it confused me lol.
well actually, im stumped too. -.-
okay, i don't have it. my brain fails me.
lmaoo poor shamil.
@Luigi0210 HELP ME
Common denomiator should be such that that it should be a multiple of both the denominators
common denominator of (x+5)(x+3) and (x+5)(x+6) I choose what is common b/n them (x+5) and then multiply this with the leftovers so I get (x+5)(x+3)(x+6) It is just like finding LCM of numbers!!
2x + 9 / (x +5)(x+3)(x+6)
If you looking for how to multiply fractions : First, Multiply out the numerators. Multiply out the denominators. change the improper fraction to a mixed fraction and simplify it if possible.
@shami: you did a small mistale........check
*mistake
Oh, forgot its 2/ not 1..
right
Oh my gosh, @atlas you make so much sense.... so easy now that I see it. Thanks guys!!
3(x+4)/(x+5)(x+3)(x+6)
You are welcome @brookew41
@shami: you are right
