Can I use the distributive property when composing functions? I know that (f o g)(x) = f(g(x)), and I know that if f(x)=6x and g(x)=4x+1 then f(g(x))=6(4x+1). How can I further simplify this? Can I use the distributive property to get 24x + 6?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

Yes that will work. Just apply six to each term, you are correct.

Okay thanks (: I just wasn't sure because for some reason I feel like I recall my teacher saying I couldn't use distributive property with functions or something
