Please help! What is the slope of the graph? https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/3/89a.gif slope = -3 slope = -1/3 slope = 1/3 slope = 3
Use the formula y2-y2/x2-x1
look at your graph and get two points, use the slope formula for calculating it's slope:\[m(slope)=\frac{ y _{2} -y _{1}}{ x _{2} -x _{1}}\] HInt: since you graph is decreasing the slope should be negative.
^
then do i just plug in the points thats shown on the graph to the slope equation??
yes,.
Look at your point on the y line...what is it on ? It will be negative, since it is coming down. How many points down does it come before it reaches the x axis ? That is your rise. Then once you get to the x line, you go to the right how many spaces ? That is your run
Okay I have a way that I usually do is using rise/run. Rise is the vertical axis and the run is the horizontal axis. We have to see how we can connect the y axis to the x axis. To do this we have to count how many spaces vertical and how many spaces horizontal we can reach together. To go the x axis from the y axis we have to go downwards. So then we get -3 as our rise and as our run we get 1. Having the written way of rise/run=-3/1. To convert this to a decimal just divide the numerator by the denominator.
then would the answer be slope = -1/3?
-3/1 = -3 (your slope)
Wait. -3/1.
oh so its slope=-3?
Yes
