Why does plants store glucose as starch but animals as glycogen?Really confused so help to know about it please.

OpenStudy (azureilai):

Our body needs energy contantly, so the liver makes glycogen, which is a molecule that acts as a secondary energy storage next to glucose that can be aquired quickly. So if s person had to run quickly or something, they could use energy from glycogen. Starch is a carbohydrate made by plants, and it is used more for long term storage. Therefore, when animals eat plants, they obtain carbs which they use more as long term energy storage rather than short term. Hope it helps.
