OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

When you write 1,000,000 as a power of 10:

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

the base is 1 and the exponent is 7. the base is 1 and the exponent is 6. the base is 10 and the exponent is 7. the base is 10 and the exponent is 6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

count how many zeros there are, 10^2 = 100 (two zeroes)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is not (a) or (b) because 1^7 is just 1, and 1^8 is similarly just 1

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

sorry im back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

need help

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

hi... when u r writing this as a power of 10... it will be something like this \[1 , 000 , 000 = 10^{some \ number}\] before i continue did u get it ?

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

yes i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The base is 10 and the exponent is 6. This is because 10x10x10x10x10x10 = 1,000,000. The whole "powers" thing is just multiplying a number by itself.

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

so... wt is the base in that expression ?|dw:1381164132998:dw| is it "x" which represent 10 or is it "Y" which will represent a number ?
