how to find the domain of a function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on what you are given the real truth is that there should be nothing to find part of the definition of a function should be its domain

http://www.coolmath.com/algebra/15-functions/06-finding-the-domain-01.htm i just dont understand this!!! make it clear? @satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in simple words if y=f(x) then domain of function is all possible values of x that's it.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it can be infinite.... excluding a number. would you gimme a worked example? :) @prince90p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it can be .. but not for all the functions let y=1/x here if you take x=0 then function is not defined so x=0 it not possible while x can take value of any real no.! so in other words domain of function i termed as all the values of x for which function is defined !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and how do you write it for exams? range of f=domain of f' right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for inverse of function x its ok.. you are right.!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks bro.. :)
