HELP please!!! 8+7x-x2=0 quadratic equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rearrange so it looks like: \[ax ^{2}+bx+c=0\] so rewritten \[-x ^{2}+7x+8\] So a=-1,b=7,c=8 plug those in to \[x=\frac{ (-b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac}) }{ 2a }\]

i knw about that way already, there is also another way to do it..btw can u square root a negative number??

Sorry missed a step, at the beginning, multiply the equation by -1. \[x ^{2}-7x-8\]
