-6x+6y=12
you need to set up 2 problems for this one.
Are you asked to graph this? If so then solve for y to obtain the form y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Assuming you are trying to find y as a function of x: -6x + 6y = 12 // Divide it all by 6 at the start to make it easier, so factor out a six 6 (-x+y) = 6*2 // Divide by 6 (-x + y) = 2 // Add x to both sides y = x + 2
Im trying to graph it i don understand how to find the points
You obtain the y-intercept from the resulting equation. For the x-intercept, replace y with 0 and solve for x.
I dont know the math
y = mx + b. I solved for slope-intercept form. y = 1x + 2 m = 1; b = 2 The slope is one and it crosses the y-axis at 2 so draw a line that crosses the y-axis at 2, and for every square x moves, y moves one. But given standard form: Ax + By = C You let x = 0 and, plugging in for x, get -6(0)+6y = 6y = 12 y = 12/6 = 2 So you have the point x = 0, y = 2; ie (0, 2) Then you let y = 0 and get -6x + 6(0) = -6x = 12 x = 12/-6 = -2 So you have the point x = -2, y = 0; ie (-2, 0) Then you plot those two points and draw a line that passes through them :)
