write the equation in slope-intercept form of the line that has a slope of 2 and contains the point (1,1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=2x right?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

^ NO.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

@kaytee7katastraphee and @mvarner LEARN THIS: http://www.mathwarehouse.com/algebra/linear_equation/slope-intercept-form.php

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=2x-1 is the equation

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Correct, now tell @kaytee7katastraphee How you got this. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can tell you that it isn't common knowlage. I plugged and chugged the equation looking for the y intercept. Once you find that you put that in your equation y=mx+b as the y intercept = b

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

That is not ALWAYS a guaranteed method.. I suggest you guys go through this: http://www.mathwarehouse.com/algebra/linear_equation/slope-intercept-form.php
