OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

DISCOVERY OF THE UNDISCOVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pandora viruses found which are the largest viruses whose size is 1micron in length and 0.5microns across. only 7% of their genes match with the existing database. isnt this cool??:D

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

these viruses are even larger than few bacteria...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where did you read this?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

science....magazine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It seems cool!

OpenStudy (opcode):

My life just flashed before my eyes... Chemical warfare is coming... Run.

OpenStudy (opcode):

Just a thought does the Pandora viruses hold any threat to humans or is it neutral.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

not known yet....maybe it would....its just an unexplored virus....maybe rather than a threat it could also help us....or would have a positive effect....

OpenStudy (opcode):

That is interesting, when was the virus discovered anyone researching into it?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i m not sure of the date...but ya obviously thats the organism of intrest....d article says that this virus comes from an alltogeder different family...so its ancestors r different and unknown...

OpenStudy (opcode):

Now that is something that has really peaked my interest.

OpenStudy (opcode):

This is the biology section? It is on topic so it is fine, plus it is being discussed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pandora? As in the music radio?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

nope...the virus is just named pandora due to its size...it has nothing to do with radio...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh thanks for the info, I was all like: "I am never using Pandora agian!" lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So this must be a pretty big virus.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

hahahah....lol...dnt wrry u can use pandora...:D yep..as compared to all other viruses....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

^:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great...... info ,anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOW :o

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

^...:D

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Thats just really cool.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@jlg030597 i wish i get to study such organism...and if this organism would benefit us...then dats d best!!!!!

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah I know right where did you hear about this

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

science magazine...

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

An undiscovered virus. I am unduly excited. >:D

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@UnkleRhaukus thnx for d pic... @lncognlto i am supper excited too...just waiting to read another article" discovery of the undiscovered"

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Hopefully discovering this virus will not be like opening Pandora's box... LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

thats a biiggg possibility too...hope it doesnt turn out that way...*fingers crossed*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow.....D:

OpenStudy (baby456):

cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

koolz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Another thing of importance here is that it resembles a bacterial cell. Second, earlier scientists in fact knew nothing about 93 per cent of the "Pandora" genes. That is why scientists mentioned the extraterrestrial origin of the "Pandora" virus." from an article isnt from pandora planet of avatar movie!just joking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.O we know so little! So much more discover :) Thanks @shrutipande9!

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Thanx for sharing that...@asmagul @neuronerd....so true..we know so much yet its sooo little..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) Sometimes I feel like the fact that we have come so far in terms of scientific advances, technological innovations, and understanding natural phenomena that the collective human mentality feels as though there is nothing further. Although our progress is impressive, it is far from complete (if such a thing is possible). This is a small testament to the fact that we are just at the tip of the iceberg and that we have so much more to learn and discover. All we need to do is dare to ask: the questions that others fear to ask.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@neuronerd....this is sooo true...i like ur approach towards science and learning....this would take u to greater heights....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats such a nice thing to say @shrutipande9 :) thanks! and I always appreciate your thoughtful posts/replies.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@neuronerd...:D

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@opcode @yolo131 @unklerhaukas @lcognlto @neuronerd @jlg030597 the most awaited article....research on this pandora virus.....missing link between viruses and cells check this site... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131014102357.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily%2Fplants_animals%2Fbiotechnology+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Plants+%26+Animals+News+--+Biotechnology%29

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@lncognlto @UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

http://www.sciencemag.org/content/341/6143/281 or this site...

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Cool

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Can someone explain to me what a Pandora Virus is and why it could have bad repercussions?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

see uptil now we had known that viruses are those organisms which are smaller than the bacteria.... but this pandora virus is of equal size of the bacteria.... u know that many of the diseases are caused by viruses eg flu? so this also may cause some disease....this is a possibility not proven yet...

OpenStudy (compassionate):

I see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woaahh ko0l

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

This is Amazing in every shape and form This has made me want to study this too. @shrutipande9 you have struck my interest in this. Thank you.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

this has struck my intrest as well....i liked that i got a big positive reply from all....i would love to post such intresting things!!! your welcome @jlg030597 dont forget to share the information here when u study about it..:D

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Ok I wont forget. Information being gathered about this need to be shared.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

thank u:D

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Anytime.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shrutipande9 @KhiZ @Compassionate @UnkleRhaukus Here's some more craziness. A sap-sucking solar-powered sea slug... Yeah they incorporate the chloroplast of ingested algae and USE the their chloroplasts for up to 12 months. These chloroplasts ACTIVELY undergo photosynthesis- It's essentially a hybrid plant-animal... Science, you're trying to pull a fast one! Don't believe me? Watch this guys and be amazed: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16124-solarpowered-sea-slug-harnesses-stolen-plant-genes.html#.Ul77wWTmkrc

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Yeah..dis is supercool...is dis d same article photosynthesizing slug? did u read about the ecoli which can produce gasoline? @neuronerd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that sounds like the same thing! XD no I havent read about that. So the bacteria produces octane? Wow gotta look it up!

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Lets do 1 thing...@neuronerd @jlg030597 and @all whenever we read some interesting thing about biology...we post it here...post d info or d link...is dis allowed?? @preetha? @hartnn @aravindg

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@Neuronerd @KhiZ @Ryaan @Opcode

OpenStudy (aravindg):

I dont think posting Biology related stuff here breaks any rules. It is alright.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sounds fun :)

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Ok sounds good to me @shrutipande9 . I'm still researching this virus too.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

@shrutipande9 this is incredible just think of all the medicinal breakthroughs this could bring

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah but thats why some of us have started to research this virus.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

ok but im too busy

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

No I meaning that alot of us have found it interesting so we started to study about it.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

i understand i would to its just i have schoolwork to do so im very busy

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah thats ok but hey If you every read anything interesting in biology post it here.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

k

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i like dis learning atmosphere...everybody is soo eager to know stuff...appreciate others...i am sooo in love wid OS!!! yaayyy..:D

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah they need to make an app.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes..yes..dats true...:) i m sure the team is working on this....

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah me to but they do need to enforce the rule of not just plin out answering the question You taught me that.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i taught u??...heheh:P

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah the first question I answered for someone I just gave them the answer. I didn't lead them to the answer like I should have.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ohhhh...d same thing happened wid me when i was new..:D

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Yah well theres a lot of connections academy students on here and they using for test and quiz's and stuff thats graded.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@hartnn...check the above comment where i have tagged u...is dis allowed? not just asking ques and ans...

hartnn (hartnn):

if it is some useful info. about biology, then it is surely allowed :)

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ahhhaa..cool den..i was pretty much expecting a yes..but just wanted to confirm...thanks @hartnn

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

Ok thats good to hear cause I'm researching this virus and like to post the info I get.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i think i should close dis info now.....bcuz i have some other intresting info..:D
