It has become increasingly popular to label products as “green” or “Earth-friendly.” Why might such terms be misleading?
'popular' is right. Politics and public-opinion gone wrong. Not to say that truly 'green' solutions are not admirable
Sustainability is a real concern, I hate when we try to trivialize it
I would say it is somewhat misleading because even if the product was made in the cleanest way possible there are still the diesel and gasoline used to transport the materials to the retailers as well as the waste of the containers which will probably be thrown away and end up in a landfill. Things that are per say "green" still have to use certain emissions to become what they are known for. Like a car that you plug into the wall for example, it is in fact a "green" use of technology, very earth friendly. But it still uses the electricity which is powered by the electrical plant that uses a lot of different chemicals and substances to create. So every "green" item that flies out into the market uses many more things that are not "green" to be produced.
EXACTLY @RICARDOismyfirstname! You know how much wasteful engineering has gone into making the Prius? Too much! But as long as the people feel good about buying it and helping the planet (sarcasm).
Yeah, I'm not a "tree hugger" or anything like that, it doesn't concern me all that much, it's not really my fight. But I understand that no matter how "clean" or "environmentally friendly" something is, it has it's consequences to everything else.
thank you guys so much for the help :)
no problem at all!
:) the more you know...
