how do you find range? I need to find the range of f(x)=-5x^2-4, but I don't know exactly what range is.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Domain is the values than 'x' can take. Range is the values that f(x) can take. If you graph the curve f(x) = -5x^2 - 4 you will find that f(x) cannot take ALL values but limited to certain values. That will be your range.

(-infinity, -4]

thank you

OpenStudy (ranga):

I don't have a graphing calculator but that looks right. But I usually write it as: Range is: -infinity < y <= -4

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@ranga Free graphing calculator: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/9rsvzfciqk @patcru1369 Please remember to close questions when you are done and it is always nice to give a medal to the best response.
