Help! Find 3U + 2V given the vectors U=-i + 4j and V = 2i - 3j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you find 3U first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No :/ i just started my trig class this week and im conpletely lost!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay there are two things you need to learn: 1. Scalar multiplication (multiplying a vector by a scalar (normal number)) 2. Vector addition (adding two vectors)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For scalar multiplication: 3U = 3(-i + 4j) You just have to use the distributive property.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3U = -3i+14j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ooh i got thatt

Now can you do 2V?
