11. What is the value of log81 3? a. 3 b.¼ c. 4 d. 1/3

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

other way around \[\log_a(b)=c \ \implies \ a^c=b\] so you have \[81^? = 3\]

OpenStudy (coconutjj):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just think of it like this: 3 to the what power is 81? 3^4 = 81 of course so log81 3 = 4. Option C

OpenStudy (ranga):

Follow zzr0ck3r 's first post. Without the subscript, the problem is confusing. But the actual problem looks like this: \[\log_{81} 3 = ?\] What power should 81 be raised to in order to get 3. Hint: The answer has to be less than 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not what power should 81 be raised to get 3. that's wrong. its what power should 3 be raised to in order to get 81!

OpenStudy (ranga):

The problem is \[\log_{81} 3 = ?\] So what power should 81 be raised to in order to get 3.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@music101 you are wrong what you are talking about it \[\log_3(81)=?\]this asked for\[\log_{81}(3) = ?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh never mind then. i thought the question was the 1st one shown. if it was the 1st one, then the answer would be 4!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but since u say that its log81 3 the answer would be 1/4 do u get why it's 1/4? @mikeiordan25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@music101 why is it 1/4?
