Hi, does anyone know what the range could be for an equation such as y= 0x + 3? Thanks!
The range is the possible set of values for the function y. So, what values for y could you possibly get with any value for x?
Well you'd only get 3
So, the range is 3 then :)
so then would I write {y E R | y = 3 } or something else? Or do I just write {y E R } ?
The range is indeed 3.
well, the first statement is redundant, and the second statement is incorrect
you'd want {y: y=3}
oh, so i shouldn't include the "member of the reals" part?
3 is a member of the reals, but saying that y is a member of the reals AND y is 3 is redundant, and can be simplified to y=3
it's for the same reason you wouldn't want y∈R AND y∈Q AND y∈Z AND y∈N AND y∈{3}, because y is simply 3
wait, that last part is bad
I mean to say, {y: y∈R AND y∈Q AND y∈Z AND y∈N AND y∈{3}}
Oh okay. So simply {y=3} would be enough and would make sense as well, right?
I'd write {y: y=3}, or {y | y=3}
Oh okay then, thanks!
it's probably simpler to say y={3} actually. Sorry for changing what I said so many times >.<
