How does the White Man Burden poem is related to the U.S and Philippine war and Spanish and how could it relate to today ? ( please help me write 5 paragraphs essay )
Here is a step-by-step outline on how to write any paper or essay. 1. Do a little bit of research if you haven't already. Don't do too much, just enough to form an opinion on the topic. 2. Once you have an opinion about the topic, do some more research focusing on things that relate to and support your opinion. While researching ask yourself "what, who, when, why, where, and how to help focus and narrow down your main points. 3. Organize your research notes into loosely related categories. In the end you want to have three points that your essay will discuss. Looking at the requirements for the essay it looks like you might want one point to express the poem's relationship and two points that support your opinion on how it relates to today. When you have your three points, look at how you can tie them all together and come up with an initial thesis statement. You thesis statement should be concise and should focus primarily on the point you are trying to make (your opinion). Don't worry about making it perfect, you will likely come back and change your thesis statement as you go along. 4. Using your research notes and thesis statement to construct and outline to your paper. In a five paragraph essay your essay will have the following five paragraphs: a) Introduction - Contains and opening hook, a few sentences introducing your talking points and your thesis statement. b) Point one - In this case this will probably be best if this paragraph was dedicated to the relationship of the poem. c) Point two - A paragraph that discusses the strongest evidence that supports your opinion. This will usually be the stuff that your researched that helped you form your opinion in the first place. d) Point three - A paragraph that discusses the second strongest evidence that supports your opinion. This will usually be the research that you did in an attempt to find other reasons supporting your opinion. e) Conclusion - This paragraph will include a brief summary of your main point and a closing statement that will stick with the reader and ties everything together. 5. Once you have an outline use it and your research notes to write the first draft of your paper. 6. Proofread, or better yet, have someone else proofread your first draft looking for spelling and grammar mistakes. Also watch for places where you might have missed quotation marks. This is an easy one to miss. 7. Rewrite your first draft fixing the mistakes. 8. Proofread your second draft. This time you are looking for flow. Pay attention to parts that sound clumsy or that slow the reading down. highlight the sentence and make a note that helps you remember that you need to work on that sentence for flow and what kind of alterations you need. It helps to read the paper out loud. Anytime you stumble when reading it aloud, you probably need to revise the sentence that you were reading to make it flow better. Any time you have to take a breath in the middle of a sentence, you need to break that sentence up into two or more sentences. Any time you hear yourself say a sentence that doesn't quite make sense, you need to go back and see if you can revise it to make your meaning clearer. You will also probably catch some grammar and spelling issues that you missed before; be sure to mark and note them. 9. Write your semi-final draft fixing the issues that you highlighted. 10. Re-read your essay one last time (aloud again is still going to help). You may not find any problems this time and you can make it your final draft, but if you do find a few more issues highlight them. 11. Write your final draft addressing the last few issues that you highlighted. Then turn it in.
