Given the conditional statement "If it is January, then it is winter in the United States," which is true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat do u mean which is true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are there any options?? cuz u dint list any

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either b) the inverse of the conditional C) the contrapositive of the conditional

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is C. the contrapositive of the conditional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou been stuf for an hour u the best!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this for geometry???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey im not 100% sure because i havent heard of these terms a lot. but i do have a good guess. and ur welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can kinda explain to u why i thought that.. i mean only if u want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so im gonna just like use a & b in my example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so let Let a and b be statements. Then a→b is a conditional statement. It is a fact (you can check it using a truth table) that the contrapositive of a conditional statement is equivalent to the statement, that is, a→b↔ ¬a→ ¬b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

..if it makes sense to u.. kinda.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks understand i little better now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? ok good. and np :)
