A rectangle tank is 2m long, 1 m wide and 4 m tall. Each vertical side of the tank can withstand a max force of 39200 Newtons. What volume of water can the tank hold...
volume =lenght * width * hight
but we don know the height, because it can only withstand a max force
@daddy7773 i might be mistaken, but when you say "4m tall" isnt that the height?
yeah ur right that is the height, the width is 1m and the length is 2m
this sounds like an integral to me
@helpme1.2 that is why i am confused why @daddy7773 says we dont know height. although if we found volume that way it would give us a maximum volume of the tank. I assume that the max force to withstand will give us a volume less than v=w*h*l
idk why @daddy7773 said that, but you are correct
well I said that it not as easy as finding the volume straight up.
The tank volume is given but that is not what the question is asking for it wants the new volume
right, so it does give the total "max" volume?
well what do i do next
how does that help me
i dont think it really does. until the end anyway. although im not completely sure on what you are learning, and how this would relate to any of that, or completely sure how to solve the problem. but i would start by finding the total allowable force of the box. meaning mutliply 39200 N by 4, because it says each wall can withstand that force.
then i would find out what amount of force is caused by the max amount of volume. then from there i would find out how much volume the tank can hold
