How to graph this? x <-8 or x>-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since the signs are greater than and less than, not the greater or equal / less or equal to signs, they're open circles. Since -8>x reads -8 GREATER than x you're gonna shade to the right . & for -2<x reads LESS than, you're gonna shade to the left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, that's not right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<-8 is x is less than negative 8 and x>-2 is x is greater than -2 so it would be opposite |dw:1381733838694:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the alligator always eats the bigger number x<-8 negative 8 is bigger than x -2<x x is bigger than negative 2

hungry, hungry alligators

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. God , I'm tired . Sorry .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had to graph em in wolfram to make sure :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

@MysteryOwl remember the alligators

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MysteryOwl Another easy trick to remember when graphing; Extra Line = Extra Color. If it has the "or equal to" dash underneath the circle is filled in. If it doesn't have the extra dash, it's a open circle.

|dw:1381733800559:dw| this is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah. Does it make sense when you look at it? You're showing everything that is less than -8, x<-8 and showing that -2 is less than x -2<x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and make sure it's an open circle on the point, not a closed. That means something else

can i draw it this way? |dw:1381734582343:dw|
