Factor completely: 2x2 − 16x + 32 2(x + 4)(x + 4) (2x − 8)(x − 4) (2x − 16)(x − 2) 2(x − 4)(x − 4)

@jigglypuff314 C?

OpenStudy (ranga):

Nope. Take the factor 2 out of the expression. Then try finding the factors.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

always take out greatest common factor first, so factor out a 2 so that 2x^2 − 16x + 32 = 2(x^2 - 8x + 16) ^ ^ two numbers that multiply to 16 and add to -8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dang I'm not sure!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it has been narrowed to two options because of the factored out 2 now, what two numbers add to -8 ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it has been narrowed to two options because of the factored out 2 so the choices have to be one with a 2 alone in front so it can't be B or C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha thanks.
