What is the solution of the following system? 3x+3y=10 -9x-9y=-30

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well multiply every term in the 1st equation by -3, what do you get...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9-9=-30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry forgot the x and y -9x-9y=-30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep... so what can you say about the 2 equations...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are now the same

OpenStudy (raden):

therefore, it has infinity solution's.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

if 1 line is a multiply of the other, you are dealing with the same line... so as @RadEn say..there are an infinite number of solutions... every point on the 1st line is also on the 2nd line. hope this helps
